Final Fantasy II for Super NES in North America, released on Novembre 23th, 1991, is in fact the same game as Final Fantasy IV easy type on Japan (click on the link for a presentation of easy type).
Square decided to rename it Final Fantasy II to not confuse gamer from United States, because the 2nd and 3dt episode was never released outside Japan. So, it’s seem to be the sequel to FFI, but it’s really not !
Also, it’s the easy type version because it was judged to difficult for US players, who didn’t know all Final Fantasy Gameplay element introduce in FF II and FF III.
